La Carmelita is a project that integrates into its context through an architecture of contained scale and a functional layout that prioritizes user experience and operational efficiency. Its design employs durable materials and passive strategies of natural lighting and ventilation, reducing the need for mechanical systems.

The architectural proposal responds directly to the concept of the restaurant: a cuisine based on ingredients from the region. The fish and seafood come from the coast of Baja California, while a large part of the inputs are acquired from local producers and suppliers, strengthening the regional economy and reducing supply chains. The open kitchen makes this process visible and reinforces the relationship between the space, the product and the user.

In addition to adequately resolving its functions, the project generates a positive impact on its environment by consolidating itself as a meeting space that promotes local gastronomy and the work of the fishing and agricultural sector of the region, demonstrating how a small-scale intervention can provide architectural, economic and social value.

La Carmelita is a beautiful example of how architecture can elevate an entire experience. The design feels authentic to Tijuana and Baja California, warm, contemporary, and deeply connected to the region. From the thoughtful use of natural light and materials to the open kitchen and intimate scale, every detail feels intentional. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a space that celebrates the culture, ingredients, and identity of our city.

  11. Has the warmth and familiarity of a family carne asada in the backyard, but with a beautifully elevated touch.

Cozy atmosphere, great food, and a lovely overall experience.

  12. A highly creative and intriguing space where materials interact with one another, creating a dynamic dialogue between textures, forms, and light. As light filters through and reflects across the different surfaces, it transforms the atmosphere, revealing new perspectives and bringing the space to life.
    Super cool!
