Open House San Diego is a free, annual public showcase that promotes appreciation of San Diego’s urban environment through behind-the scenes access to and information about buildings and public spaces. It’s an exciting opportunity for you to learn about the importance of thoughtful and innovative architecture, urban planning and design. Through Open House you have the opportunity to dialogue with architects, design enthusiasts and neighbors about the future of our city and participate in building a more vibrant civic life. The buildings and spaces we build today – as well as those we protect and repurpose- will define the San Diego of tomorrow.
OH! San Diego 2023
Explore Downtown, Barrio Logan, Coronado, and National City
Each year Open House San Diego (OH! SD) provides a behind-the-scenes look at notable architecture, public spaces, and more with guided and self-guided tours across select San Diego area neighborhoods. For 2023, OH! SD tour sites invited the public in to explore a unique variety of buildings and spaces in Downtown, Barrio Logan, Coronado, and National City.
While the 2023 OH! SD weekend has ended, you can still explore the neighborhoods on your own, both virtually and through self-guided tours.
Videos and Virtual Tours
For armchair travelers, OH! offers a selection of video tours and behind-the-scenes views from previous years including the Rob Wellington Quigley-designed Ocean Discovery Institute; a virtual hardhat tour of the recently completed mixed use development in National City, Parco; a guided tour of Little Saigon; virtual hike in the City Heights Canyons Loop Trail; and more. Learn how to take great architectural photographs with a series of photography tutorials. Kids and adults alike can learn the basics of architectural sketching with architect-guided KidSketch tutorials on how to sketch Open House sites including the Lincoln Acres Library, National City Aquatic Center, and Ocean Discovery Institute.
