The town was originally brought to life by San Diego Mayor Bert Vaughan in the 1920s. Our hotel, built in the 1950s, was a destination for travelers and Hot Spring enthusiasts. The remodeled hotel, opened in 2023, has a bar, restaurant, three mineral hot spring pools and spacious, communal outdoor areas that host live music every weekend. In the remodel, we were intentional with material and finish selections and careful to use sustainable, conscious design throughout the property. We used wood, stone, ceramic and handmade materials and finishes throughout. Local lava rock was gathered and used for walls and planters throughout the property and we left the natural desert earth as the flooring for the exterior common areas. It is meant to be a grounding experience for guests and staff alike. Outdoor shade structures were built using eucalyptus timber from North Africa and reclaimed wood from the previous hotel was used to build doors and gates. The goal was to allow the natural surroundings of the Sonoran Desert be the star and maintain the integrity of the small town of 550 locals who frequent the pools, bar and restaurant. The hotel is a gathering place for all and welcomes everyone from out of town guests looking for an elevated experience to local community coming together for kinship. The hotel is more than just a vibe, it is an authentic human experience.

Great architecture and beautiful place. The owners have done a 180 with the place from when they first got it. I know because I saw it before it opened. They’ve also created an amazing community of people, including artists, local/regional vendors and everyday people from all walks of life.
They deserve this so much! They poured their heart and soul to this place. And have created a strong community in Jacumba and have brought this land back to life and so grateful for all their work.

This hotel has come a long way from what it was when I first visited it with my grandfather and Henry Lazare. I’m so happy to know that someone with vision, good taste, and dedication to hard work has made Jacumba Hot Springs and the Hotel come alive like never before! Great job and a hearty thank you!
I’ve come back multiple times. Living in NYC, I am deeply tired and overstimulated; Jacumba is an antidote. It is spare, strange and perfectly considered. Nothing is overdesigned because there’s no need. The desert, the materials selected in the design and the quiet do most of the work. I come home wanting less. I leave planning my next visit. If you ask me where I want to go for rest, it’s always Jacumba.
Jacumba is magical. I love how the owners of this hotel have kept its vibe and originality. This is it. There doesn’t need to be anything else. You come here, to disconnect. Soak in the magical healing waters. And get lost in the vortex. Keep your phones out!
We are like little children escaping to the pools in the evening, our spirits light up as we travel east to our destination Jacumba. Satisfying as we soak, healing our bodies . Giggling under the moonlight, owls flying overhead. Truly blessed to share this special space. Namaste
I discovered Jacumba Hot Springs over 30 years ago and know the town really well from the old days and I can tell you that Team Jacumba Hot Springs have done the most amazing job of revitalizing the Inn, the town, the Pond, the vibe and if you ever get a chance to go there for dinner or lunch you will be very, very happy.
Have you ever wondered what the magic of “intention” can bring forth. Long ago we were sitting in the Power Spot at the base of Jacumba Peak, listening to bands play at our TeleMagica gathering. We intended that Jacumba become a place of Art, Music, and the Spirit…a true Oasis on a natural Power Spot. The Jacumba Spa and Hotel is part of this larger manifestation. The owners have understood the nature of the Vortex… that is this ancient volcanic Caldera. A place that is not about the Known vacation ….this is about the UnKnown adventure that changes your life.

Exquisite detail and restoration with such creativity. Thank you for saving the town of Jacumba Hot Springs, California and renovating the Old Hotel 🏨. The shuttered resort during Covid Pandemic timing of the renovation was even more of a challenge that this creative team invested in, designed and carefully executed is remarkable. I know it was a delicate process. Once they reached Operation phase was fantastic! The parking lot was always full of guest , the bathhouse entertainment venues intrigued guest, and the amazing restaurant menu.
What a beautiful resurrection. I first visited Jacumba Hot Springs before the renovation, when this historic place had sadly fallen into disrepair. To see it now, lovingly restored with rustic bohemian beauty, luxurious comfort, delicious food, and wonderfully unexpected entertainment, feels a little magical.
What touches me most is the love they’ve poured not only into the hotel, but into the surrounding land, lake, and community. You can feel the heart behind this place.
I feel lucky to enjoy this desert gem and already know I’ll return again and again. I love it so much, I’m celebrating my 50th birthday here. ✨
Last weekend, we stopped for lunch at Long Shadow Restaurant at Jacumba Hot Springs, and we felt welcomed from the moment we arrived at the property.
We really appreciated the intentional design—the care the designers put into selecting the materials, furniture, and decorations is evident throughout the entire property.
We were fortunate to meet the partners/designers, who generously offered us a walkthrough. The journey through the different mineral pools, pool cabanas, and hotel rooms was delightful, revealing layer upon layer of thoughtful design details.
One of my favorite parts was the collection of Sonoran Desert oil paintings in the restaurant by various artists. I loved how these pieces add another layer of connection to the desert and its landscape.
Highly recommend a visit!
