The Natura Community Urban Garden, located within Natura Park in eastern Tijuana, is a space designed to encourage community interaction, learning, and civic engagement through urban agriculture and environmental education. The project was thoughtfully integrated into its surroundings as part of the revitalization of an existing park, transforming a public space into a more dynamic, functional, and welcoming environment for the community. Conceived as an outdoor classroom, it offers workshops and hands-on activities for people of all ages, where residents can learn how to grow vegetables, make compost, use water responsibly, recycle organic waste, and care for local biodiversity, all without requiring any previous experience. Its inclusive approach encourages children, youth, adults, and seniors to actively participate, promoting collaboration and the exchange of knowledge. Serving a community of approximately 60,000 residents, the garden has become a gathering place that strengthens connections between neighbors, fosters a sense of belonging, encourages stewardship of public spaces, and brings new life to Natura Park by increasing its use and community engagement. More than a place to grow food, it represents a model for community transformation that promotes healthy lifestyles, environmental awareness, and the development of a more connected, engaged, and resilient community.
