The EAT Building, designed for Grupo AFAL, stands as a thoughtful architectural response to the industrial and commercial growth along the Tijuana–San Diego border. Located within a dense urban context, the project redefines what a corporate headquarters can be, shifting away from the closed-off, blind typology toward a porous, contextual, and human-centered space.
By supporting the logistical operations of AFAL and integrating spaces for administration, collaboration, and community gathering, the EAT Building goes beyond functionality to become a catalyst for workplace dignity, sustainability, and regional identity. It demonstrates that corporate architecture in the borderlands can be civic, generous, and deeply rooted in place.
The building´s material palette reflects the regional carácter (balancing industrial strength with crafted details) while passive design strategies such as cross-ventilation, solar protection, and generous green areas promote environmental performance in a challenging climate.
