Located inside the Granger Hotel in San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter, BOND reimagines spirits acquisition and the retail environment through the lens of an ultra-luxury heritage fashion house: defined by exceptional client care that emphasizes personalized attention, concierge-level hospitality, and expert merchandise knowledge.
Unlike a traditional retail floor plan, BOND is designed as a series of rooms—anchored by an intimate tasting lounge at the center—to evoke wandering through a residence or salon. A share of the bottles are positioned on intentionally non-uniform tables, cabinets and other surfaces to suggest that they have been assembled over time, in keeping with the culture of collecting.
Hotel guests and the public enter BOND through the Granger Hotel’s wildly expressive lobby, giving way to a contrasting design that is guided by elegant restraint. The walls are wrapped in velvety Roman clay and limewash plaster introducing an impression of age and intimacy. Oak parquet laid in a basket-weave pattern and coffered ceiling panels inset with hand-painted botanical murals establish aesthetic continuity with the adjacent lobby. Other design details that define the sequential rooms include integrated picture rails, Amber bottle-colored stained glass partitions with diamond-patterned detailing and a sculptural lighting fixture in the intimate tasting lounge.
