Opened this summer, by hospitality entrepreneur Paula Vrakas and her partners—the team behind The Roxy Encinitas—Anigma is one of Tecture’s newest hospitality projects and among its most immersive to date. Hidden behind an unassuming consignment store, the 800-square-foot, 47-seat cocktail den is built around an original “Astro-Deco” concept that blends Art Deco influences, celestial symbolism and historic European references. From the custom astrolabe-inspired entrance portal—which guests must solve and physically unlock to reveal the hidden lounge—to the handcrafted cathedral-inspired back bar and bespoke architectural millwork throughout. Rooted in the concept of hidden knowledge, Anigma invites guests to explore a layered sensorial experience where every detail contributes to a larger, ever-evolving narrative.
The details throughout Anigma are thoughtfully executed to maintain a cohesive storyline. From the initial entry experience to your exit through the alley, everything you touch and interact with adds value in line with the concept. Its speakeasy format is a rare offering in Encinitas, giving North County a distinctive nightlife destination that adds a sense of discovery and energy to the neighborhood.
