The Bower stands in place of the mid-century landmark Villa Capri in the heart of Coronado Island. Historically part of a Japanese tea garden of a grand estate, the hotel’s design and name draw inspiration from lush landscaping, elegant arches, and climbing vines, creating a serene, essentials-driven aesthetic rooted in the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi—the appreciation of beauty in imperfection.

Developed in collaboration with a long-standing client who values lifestyle-driven properties, this four-story, 39-room boutique hotel transforms an underutilized site into a vibrant destination. The rooftop restaurant and bar offer sweeping, unobstructed views, while the lobby lounge and café serve as welcoming gathering spaces for both locals and visitors.

Honoring its predecessor, The Bower integrates the iconic neon signage of the original Villa Capri, paying homage to the property’s storied place in Coronado’s historic fabric.
