Sweetwater Park embraces the joint vision of the Port of San Diego and the City of Chula Vista to reinvent the Chula Vista Bayfront. Sweetwater Park is the first of two large waterfront parks planned as part of the Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan. The park has transformed over 40 acres of previously disturbed and un-used land into a jewel of park and public amenity for the citizens of Chula Vista and the greater San Diego region. The park site has been completely re-invigorated with native plantings replacing the non-native and invasive species that once dominated. The park provides visitors with the chance to connect with nature and the south San Diego Bay waterfront with nature and adventure themed play areas, an open, native meadow, a park restroom with an interactive solar calendar, and ample walking and biking trails and paths to allow park visitors to experience this part of the Chula Vista Bayfront like never before.
