With the Southeastern Live Well Center, Steinberg Hart delivered a one-stop public service building exemplifying the ethos of trauma-informed design. In addition to permanent offices for public service agencies, the building program incorporates flexible office space for community-based programs to share and utilize. These programs, formerly dispersed throughout the community, can now be found within the Southeastern Live Well Center, making the Center a true on-stop shop for community services.
The Southeastern Live Well Center exemplifies exceptional sustainability, surpassing LEED Gold certification as a NetZero Energy building. Emphasizing wellness, its design features daylight-filled interiors, a meditation garden, and direct access to the Chollas Creek Trail, embodying a holistic approach to sustainability and well-being.
Extensive community engagement and a robust public art program underscores the Center’s commitment to community representation and enrichment. Local artists were invited to participate in shaping the creative vision for the new center, integrating artwork throughout the facility, including the outdoor plaza, meditation garden, corridors, waiting areas, conference rooms, and family play area. This artwork celebrates the community’s history, diversity, and cultural experiences while fostering education, inspiration, and healing.
