An ambitious historical renovation, a narrow, unwanted plot of land, and an opportunity to provide workforce housing in San Diego: for Nakhshab, the vision for Ezabelle was clear. In late 2019, the abandoned Italianate style home, originally built in 1882, was carefully dismantled and stored off-property while crews completed site upgrades. The home was then returned, completely rebuilt and restored, and incorporated into the ground floor of the modern mixed-use design, fitting neatly into the tiny plot of land that had deterred other developers.

Ezabelle features 46 thoughtfully-designed microapartments replete with stylish finishes and built-ins that maximize square footage. Ground floor retail spaces boast a private open-air breezeway—perfect for outdoor seating. A residents-only roof deck offers skyline views and a breath of fresh air. Mature olive trees and low-maintenance foliage were incorporated for aesthetics and environmental impact. The commercial space is anchored by the wildly popular Hinar Cafe, with three smaller kiosk spaces occupied by small local businesses. In an area filled with high density developments, Ezabelle offers a more private and comfortable urban lifestyle suitable for residents seeking a simpler approach to apartment living.
