Emaus is more than just a café—it’s a meeting point that activates the street and brings life to the ground floor of Francis Calete. Strategically located on the corner of the building, Emaus opens onto the sidewalk with floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with natural light in the morning and enliven the street by night. The furnishings are designed to engage continuously with the exterior, blurring the boundary between interior and city. The aim is to offer a space for those who live in and walk through the city, creating an urban experience that makes public space more human.

Since its opening, Emaus has become a community favorite: in the mornings, it’s a peaceful refuge for those seeking a good coffee in a calm setting, while in the afternoons, it transforms into a vibrant space to work, meet, or simply watch the city go by. Its presence has activated the entire block, filling it with energy, movement, and a renewed sense of community.

Emaus shows how a well-considered sidewalk-level intervention can transform a commercial space into a vibrant node of urban life.
