Park Summit transforms a previously underused full-block site at the edge of Bankers Hill and Hillcrest into a contemporary mixed-use landmark with 265 new residences. Its stepped massing and seven-story podium help break down the scale of the 21-story tower, responding to the surrounding neighborhood while maximizing views of downtown, the Pacific Ocean, and Balboa Park.
Across Sixth Avenue, the tower creates a striking dialogue with Balboa Park’s historic buildings and cultural landscape—placing contemporary architecture beside some of San Diego’s most recognizable historic surroundings without attempting to imitate them. Floor-to-ceiling glazing reflects the park, sky, and changing daylight, while balconies and terraces bring depth and human scale to the façade.
At street level, restaurants, retail spaces, shaded walkways, and an active residential entrance strengthen the pedestrian experience. Park Summit demonstrates how thoughtful density can provide housing, energize the public realm, and create a new gateway that connects San Diego’s architectural history with its evolving future.
