The Allied Health & Wellness Hub at MiraCosta College is the first in a series of transformative campus projects, establishing a new benchmark for design, sustainability, and student well-being. The campus improvements, developed in close collaboration between the design team and College, includes a Gymnasium, Allied Health Building, KHAN Kinesiology, Health & Nutrition Building, and new parking; all connected by a cohesive network of outdoor spaces.
Landscape architecture plays a central role, shaping the Hub into a restorative, wellness-centered environment. Buildings are carefully sited to frame views of the coastline and mountains, while a series of courtyards and gardens encourage informal gathering, outdoor learning, and moments of quiet reflection. Native and climate-appropriate planting enhances ecological performance, supports stormwater infiltration, and creates immersive sensory experiences tied to the local environment.
The Hub integrates with the broader campus through a pedestrian bridge and tree-lined pathways that encourage walking and active movement. These outdoor connections reinforce the College’s mission of whole person wellness, linking physical health, mental well-being, and community. The result is a welcoming landscape that extends educational and therapeutic experiences beyond the classroom and supports a resilient, future-ready campus.
