OH! San Diego 2021

Design + Community: City Heights

BARRIO LOGAN | CHULA VISTA | CITY HEIGHTS | LA MESA | NATIONAL CITY |  SAN MARCOS | SOUTHEASTERN SAN DIEGO

CITY HEIGHTS

Soon to be in the OH! limelight is City Heights, a bastion for refugees and the rich worldly traditions they hold dear. With roots in Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, City Heights residents come from more than 70 countries and speak more than 40 languages. Add to the mix eclectic culinary flavors and the vibrant The Avenue Mural Project, and City Heights’s diversity will be on full display during OH! San Diego 2021.

An architect-led virtual tour of the Ocean Discovery Institute Living Lab will showcase the artistry of Rob Wellington Quigley Architects and Spurlock Landscape Architects. More than just a beautiful building, Ocean Discovery Institute educates underserved youth about science and conservation. The tour will show how the institute’s design is doing more than catching eyes; it’s empowering youth to transform their lives, their neighborhood and the world as the next generation of science leaders.

Other OH highlights include an audio tour of Little Saigon, a preview of an innovative multi-generational affordable housing development designed by Rob Wellington Quigley Architects and Studio E, unique public art, a self-guided food tour, and more.
