Open House San Diego 2020 Volunteer

OH! San Diego 2020
Celebrating architecture, urban design & the built environment
One weekend. Free access. Iconic architecture. The doors are open for you to explore.

There is still time to volunteer!

You can be an Open House ambassador at one of our many neighborhood tour sites! Volunteers are still needed for Saturday, March 23rd and Sunday, March 24th. If you are available and would like to meet new people with similar interests, learn more about our city, and play a part in promoting great design in San Diego, read on and follow the directions at the bottom of this page!

What will volunteers asked to do?

Each volunteer will represent Open House at a specific site on the tour. Volunteers greet tour guests and invite passersby to join in, hand out materials such as tour passports and guides, and fill out tally sheets to keep track of the number of tour guests. Most volunteer shifts last about 3 or 4 hours, so you will have plenty of time before or after your shift to go visit the other sites on the tour. You will not be expected to be an expert on architecture or the site you volunteer at; each site will have their own representatives who are familiar with their building.

How to Volunteer

To volunteer in the La Jolla area: Join us March 12, at 4:45pm (meeting will go from 5pm-6:30pm) at the La Jolla Historical Society, 780 Prospect Street.

To volunteer in all other Open House neighborhoods including Bankers Hill, Downtown, Gaslamp, East Village, Barrio Logan, Point Loma and Balboa Park: Join us March 11 at 5:45pm (meeting will go from 6pm-7pm) at the San Diego Central Library, 330 Park Blvd, in the Shiley Event Space, on the 9th Floor.

At the meeting you will learn how to be an Open House volunteer, and you will receive your custom-designed Open House t-shirt, along with the place and time of your volunteer shift. Your volunteer coordinator will be there to help you will any questions.

Then show up for your volunteer shift on March 23rd or 24th, and have fun!
