There are many volunteer opportunities within SDAF, and various ways in which to become involved. Depending on your interests, talents and skills, we have a great and fulfilling fit for you. If you have any special skills, let us know. If you have the interest but not the experience, we can use your help, too. Just send us a note and we can help to identify the right fit for you within the SDAF - and please join us for our monthly volunteer meetings!
SDAF Volunteer Committee meetings are designed as a way to familiarize interested parties with SDAF at a higher level, introduce volunteers to one another and catch up on SDAF volunteer activities. Meetings last for about 60 minutes, and include snacks and time to meet and greet fellow attendees. Please write to firstname.lastname@example.org to have your email address added to our Volunteer mailing list informing you of meeting dates and volunteer activities.
Internships with the San Diego Architectural Foundation afford students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the broad spectrum that is the design/build profession. Interns are now able to gain credit toward the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards’ (NCARB) Internship Development Program, also known as IDP (up to 80 hours under work setting FF). For more information about obtaining IDP credit hours with SDAF, click here.

ORCHIDS & ONIONS
Taking a critical and complimentary look at local architecture and design is a vital part of the mission of Orchids & Onions (O&O). San Diego’s premier awards program for the built environment was purchased from AIA San Diego in 2002, and a ‘reinvented’ O&O debuted in 2006. With a focus of educational outreach, O&O seeks to engage all San Diegans in exercising their say about our built environment by accepting public nominations and hosting a People’s Choice Award. Opportunities are vast and are organized by sub-committees, including Silent Auction, Sponsorship, Event Planning, Award Follow-Up and more. If you’re interested in participating in this exciting and multi-layered program, click here and let us know!
