Celebrating architecture, urban design & the built environment
One weekend. Free access. Iconic architecture. The doors are open for you to explore.

All of the Open House San Diego sites are within easy reach of public transit. We encourage you to leave the car at home (or park it in a central location) and explore the city on foot or bike. This will ensure that you get the most out of your urban exploration!

Here are some suggested routes between the neighborhoods via bike, bus and trolley. These routes are included on the map link above.

Traveling between Downtown and Bankers Hill.

By bus: #3 bus line travels north along Fifth Ave. and south along Fourth Ave.

By bike: Bike lanes are available northbound on Fifth Ave. and southbound on Fourth Ave.

By trolley: The trolley does not extend into Bankers Hill

Traveling around Downtown.

Most sites within Downtown, East Village and Gaslamp are walkable and are within a half mile radius.

By bus: Pick up the #3 bus to Bankers Hill and the #11 bus to Barrio Logan at Market and Sixth

By bike: Best bike routes within downtown North-South are Fifth and Sixth, East-West are E and F

By trolley: The orange, green and blue trolley lines run throughout downtown. The blue and orange lines run East-West on C St. and North-South on Park. They are located at the northern and eastern sides of downtown. The green line runs along the south side of downtown. The main transit centers are at Santa Fe Depot/ One America Plaza and at 12th & Imperial. The Park & Market station is a good place to pick up the #3 or #11 bus.

Traveling between Downtown and Barrio Logan.

By bus: #11 bus line travels east along Market St. and connects to Logan Ave. near many Barrio Logan sites.

By bike: Best bike route to Barrio Logan is east on J St., south on 16th, cross over Commercial and turn east on Logan or National.

By trolley: For northern Barrio Logan sites, use the eastbound orange line. For southern Barrio Logan sites use the southbound blue line. The trolley will get you close, but you should still anticipate at least a 10 minute walk to most sites.
