Design Tours
Let us be your design concierge. We know where all the good stuff is in San Diego.

We’re taking a break

There’s only so much an intrepid band of volunteers can do. Sadly we don’t currently have the capacity to host regular tours. Rest assured though, this is something we know you want! If you are passionate about sharing the wonders of our built environment with others through architectural tours and can volunteer to help, then please contact us at

To wet your appetite, here’s some tours from the recent past:

Orchid Tours

In June 2012 SDAF hosted the first Orchid Tour, an offshoot of our enormously popular Orchids & Onions program. The self-guided tour offered over two days gave attendees an insider’s view and whenever possible an architect/designer/owner’s perspective of projects that have been recognized by the Orchids & Onions jury as amongst San Diego’s finest, and worthy of the coveted Orchid. Projects on the tour included the New Children’s Museum (Architect: Rob Quigley), MXD830 (Architect: Foundation for Form), Centre Street Lofts and The Station (Architect: Lloyd Russell), Ballpark Warehouse District (Architect: Studio E) and Vin de Syrah (Designer: Michael Soriano)

Custom Tours

San Diego is blessed with a wealth of diverse architecture; contemporary,  traditional, and everything in-between. SDAF can create a custom specialty tour for your group focusing on the genre, area or architect of your choice. Interested in modernist houses or Old Town adobes? Want to see and learn about cutting-edge medical facilities or the works of Irving Gill? Please contact us at and we’ll bring San Diego’s architecture to life for your group!
