The 2013 O&O Awards Ceremony & Silent Auction begins at 6:00PM with a pre-ceremony gathering of the Who's-Who of San Diego's design world in the May S. Marcy Sculpture Court & Garden.
The Members-Only VIP Party will feature magnificent views towards California Tower and enhanced menu and beverage options.
Throughout the pre-party, and in advance online, our fabulous selection of goods and services will be on display as part of the O&O Silent Auction. Visit www.orchidsandonions.org for more information and the link to view items.
Then, at 8:30, we migrate to James S. Copley Auditorium, where we welcome back Sam "The Cooking Guy" Zien as Master of Ceremonies, who will navigate us through the 2013 crop of Orchids & Onions in his own deft and entertaining fashion.
Tickets on sale now! Early bird pricing ends 09/15/13.
It is now peak season to plant your favorite and least favorite projects in the field of 2013 Orchids & Onions. The success of the program hinges on quality nominations and public participation, so take your camera for a walk and let us know what you think makes San Diego blossom - or stink!
Nominating is easy - if you have seen a new building, piece of public art, restaurant, park etc, go take a few pictures and then nominate it on the Orchids & Onions website. Also, be sure to "Like" the O&O Facebook page and you will be able to see featured nominations as they come in.
The deadline for 2013 Orchids & Onions nominations is August 1st. Once the nomination window has closed, the jury will take their first, electronic scoring pass at every single nomination, viewing the photos, design details and your comments. The highest scoring projects are then short listed and toured, and deliberations commence. The People's Choice voting will occur online in September.
The official 2012 Orchids & Onions were announced on October 11 at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla. In spite of the first rainfall in months, everyone had a blast at the pre-party and silent auction, and the bids were flying! Then, the crowd of 450+ moved into Sherwood Auditorium where Sam "The Cooking Guy" Zien reprised his role as Master of Ceremonies, and the 2012 Orchids & Onions were announced.
