Orchids, Onions & Opportunities (OOO) is a follow up event to SDAF's Orchids & Onions program, which recognizes the good, the bad and the 'could be improved upon' in our built environmment. It will take place over a 2-week period from June 9 - June 21, 2012.
   
As part of OOO, SDAF has curated an original exhibit and launched a new website (ooosdaf.org). We are hosting PechaKucha Night SDV.15, and an unprecedented tour of Urban Orchids, hosted by some of the most thoughtful and talented architects and designers in San Diego. Orchids, Onions & Opportunities is an original exhibition peppered with large amounts of interactive, public participation and special events. The exhibition will present challenges, realities, inspirations and possibilities as they relate to the design, development and use of public spaces within our region.

SDAF's Urban Orchid Tour kicks off with an Evening at an Orchid reception at 2010 Interior Design Orchid Vin De Syrah Wine Parlor. Enjoy complimentary beverages and hors d'oeuvres as you meet and mingle with the architects, designers and other attendees, and receive your copy of a keepsake guide created especially for the tour. The icing? You'll also enjoy an exclusive tour of this whimsical wonderland by its designer, Michael Soriano of Onairos Design.

Saturday and Sunday, June 16 & 17

On Saturday and Sunday you will explore featured Urban Orchids on the tour at your own pace and in the order that you choose. You may plan your day(s) around the pre-arranged tours offered at some of the Orchids - or use the field guide we will have provided to self-guide at all (35+) Orchids Urban 2006-2011.

PKN V.15 will serve up another awesome line-up of presenters, and this time we’ve a theme; Making the Case for Public Space. The unexpected array of 20x20 presentations from from bike paths to public baths and decision-making to picture-taking will astound, educate and amuse. As always, presentations begin at 20:20.
